Hello there! It's been awhile...sorry guys! There's not much been going on really. Just teaching the kids the usual, gave a test on Tuesday and then have been preparing them for Halloween! We have been singing a few songs and doing a few crafts. I'll have to get some picture up of the kids masks that they made and also of the decorations. Tomorrow evening we are going to have the kids do a little "trick or treating" and some activities. Nothing too big but enough to give them a taste of the holiday. We have been talking about different characters too and a lot about pumpkins...all the good stuff! I wasn't feeling too well today : ( Just a sore throat and feeling a bit down, but I took some medicine so hopefully that kicks this in the butt! I wore my glasses today and she told me she wants me to look beautiful tomorrow with no glasses! What a statement! To be fair to her though, I did tell her I looked horrible and felt bad so I guess she was just reassuring me haha. Well....I've got some things to get to. Just wanted to put in a quick note so everybody knows I'm good.

Happy Halloween!! I got to celebrate it before all of you...hahaha!! Today was a really fun day showing the kids all of the different Halloween things that Americans celebrate. We started off the day with the kids finishing a 5 Little Pumpkins craft that we began yesterday. The poem is a little long for them to remember but I think they at least understood it. We then had them put on some hats that the parents had gotten for all of the students so we could have some daytime pictures of the kids all dressed up. I then had put together a small PowerPoint for them to look at that had a bunch of Halloween characters and they really loved looking at those. They acted all scared and screamed which was actually pretty funny. I showed them some pictures of people's houses decorated and they screamed for those too...maybe a little too scary for them! We sang another Halloween song (I'll spare you cause it's super catchy) and then I had them do a Halloween maze and skeleton body part labeling worksheet which they actually did really well with! The next class was supposed to be mine too but the vice principal came in and told us everybody was going outside so that's what we did next. We began with the kids all standing nicely in line while all the other classes around us were going nuts (as you can tell from the pictures) and then ended up letting the kids dance around and play. Come to find out, there was a small EARTHQUAKE so we all had to go outside! I swear, if I didn't ask, I don't think anybody would ever tell me anything! We were outside for about 40 minutes and then got to go back inside, which was just in time for lunch. During lunch, all the kids want me to sit next to them because I ask them how to say words in Chinese and they laugh when I say them totally wrong. They always fight over who I'm going to be next to....gotta come up with a rotation list I think!
Lunch was good and afterwards we played outside for awhile. The kids really liked the part of our song that talked about vampires so they had me chasing them around pretending to be a vampire and trying to bite them haha. It was actually pretty fun. One little boy (Andy) is super cute and literally started to climb up me and try to tickle me. He's such a little stinker! Of course I laughed when he tickled me so then he kept trying to do it over and over again...darn him! We went back inside a little bit later and then I didn't see the kids again for a few hours until after they had their other classes. The class that I have with them before dinner, we made lion masks. They always take so long with their crafts so that took us right up to dinner time! We then went to dinner and then the kids had a little bit of free time before they came back to my class. I ran upstairs and turned on a bunch of pumpkin LED lights that a parent had gotten for us so when the kids came upstairs, the room was all dark and just lit up by the pumpkins. When they walked in, they were all so surprised! They kept thanking me and it was so darn cute. We then put the hats and capes on them that some parents had gotten and we had 2 pumpkins too.....(Andy is the 2nd one). They were soooo excited to be running around all dressed up! We also had little bags for them that had their names on them so that they could go "trick or treating". After everybody was done being little nutcases, we had them all sit down in their chairs and I taught them how to say "trick or treat" when they want candy. We passed out the candy to them and they were all so excited! We let them run around with their bags for about 5 more minutes and then it was time for them to go. So sad! We only had about a 30 minute "party" but I think they loved it!
After we were done, one of the kids parents came in and she started to teach some of the kids a dance. There is some kind of show going on that they are participating in and our class is going to have a Chinese part and an English part. So for the Chinese part, they are doing a dance that the parent is teaching them and then I'm in charge for teaching them the English part! Hannah said that a parent is having a professional dancer come in to teach the kids English dances but I told her that's totally unnecessary. She said "it doesn't matter". I think that's just what she says when she doesn't understand or care what I say haha. Who knows. So any good song suggestions for me to a small performance? I was thinking about the Baby Bumblebee song and maybe the Hokey Pokey.....lame....I know. I'm open for any suggestions! Well....time to go. Going to the city again this weekend so I've got to get my beauty rest!
