I know mom...I lied...I've still been horrible at keeping up with this. But I'm always so tired and would much rather sleep than type!! Plus nothing super interesting has been going on. The only things really going on in school are that my students are putting on Christmas play on Friday for their parents so I've been busting my butt preparing for that. We are making the costumes so I've been busy putting those together. Hannah finally started to help me and then she ended up changing a bunch of things so that kind of irritated me. And it's nothing that she does on purpose, it's just the Chinese way. I just say whatever and let her do her own thing. The kids all knew their parts and songs they were singing and I tried to explain that to her but she just did or own thing so grrrrrr on her! Oh well. I'm over it now. Lynne just arrived today to help us prepare so that's been nice. It's nice having somebody here who understands the things that I'm talking about and doesn't just pretend! So...that's pretty much what I'll be doing all week.
This weekend, I went to a Christmas pub crawl which was a lot of fun. My friends and I had a lot of fun and I met some more people! I also stayed at Joy's apartment with her so it was cool seeing an actual Chinese apartment and just all of the different things. We went to her parents house for dinner on Friday and her mom made this thing called spring pies. It's like a tortilla type flatbread and then you fill it up with all kinds of things like sour cabbage (basically saurkraut with pork), potatoes, pork, squid, leeks, and a bunch of other things that I don't really know what they are. Her parents were really nice and her dad said he was embarrassed that he couldn't speak with me. I said I should be the one who is embarrassed since I'm the one living in this country! I have to make a more proactive effort in learning the language!! Saturday was the Christmas pub crawl and in the afternoon my friend Rich and I walked around the city...maybe got lost for awhile...but ended up finding Zhongjie which is another shopping district. It was a good day! haha. And then Sunday Joy and I went shopping for things for school which was really nice. It was an overall pretty good weekend...Just not very relaxing! Well....that's all for now. Who knows when I'll be back on here. Hopefully tomorrow!! Enjoy the pictures!
